European Week for Waste Reduction 2025 - Small quantities of hazardous waste
As part of the 15th European Week for Waste Reduction, Valorsul will be collecting small quantities of hazardous waste from families (household waste) at the Lumiar Ecocentre. For example, waste resulting from small DIY projects: paint cans, thinners, pesticides, insecticides, photographic fluids, etc., properly packaged in sealed containers.

Electronic waste is the central theme of the European Week for Waste Reduction
The European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) takes place from November 22nd to 30th and, this year, focuses on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), under the motto "Turn on the value. Turn off the waste". The objective is to draw attention to the accelerated growth of electronic waste in the European Union, raising awareness among citizens, companies and organizations for more sustainable consumption and management practices for this equipment.

CONFERENCE ‘POWERING THE FUTURE’
Portugal hosted the international conference ‘Powering the Future – Energy Recovery in Portugal’, an initiative promoted by EGF, Valorsul and ISWA - International Solid Waste Association. The meeting, which brought together national and international experts to discuss the future of waste management, with a special focus on energy recovery, reflected on the challenges and opportunities for the sector in creating a new value cycle based on clean energy production and the promotion of the circular economy. At the opening of the conference, the Secretary of State for the Environment, João Manuel Esteves, highlighted that ‘energy recovery is one of the solutions to two of today's greatest environmental challenges: waste management and sustainable energy production’.
