This facility receives the slag, i.e. the waste after it has been burnt at the Waste To Energy plant, and separates the ferrous metal, the non-ferrous metal and the inert metal. The metal is sent for recycling and the aggregates can be used to build roads.
Every year, we remove enough ferrous material from the slag to build 16,500 cars.
