At Valorsul, what you no longer value and have therefore thrown away becomes a resource again, a raw material that can be transformed into a new cardboard box, a new glass bottle, electricity, fertiliser for agriculture or materials for building a new road.
Endogenous energy production

Endogenous energy is energy that comes from resources that exist in Portugal.

Valorsul produces energy from undifferentiated waste (through incineration), organic waste collected selectively (through a process known as anaerobic digestion) and biogas obtained from waste landfills. By producing electricity through incineration, organic waste recovery and landfill biogas, Valorsul avoids using fossil fuels to produce electricity. In total, Valorsul exported 254 GWh to the national electricity grid in 2022, which also corresponds to the domestic consumption of approximately 69,000 families.
