Valorsul believes that its mission does not end with environmental quality and economic efficiency. It also wants to play a social role in the 19 municipalities it assists, carrying out Social Patronage actions to create well-being and better living conditions for individuals and communities.
In recent years we have built a series of social facilities with this in mind, such as the Santa Iria Swimming Pools, the Bobadela Roundabout and the São João da Talha Ecopark.
São João da Talha Ecopark
The São João da Talha Ecopark in Loures is an innovative park financed by Valorsul, so that the population can enjoy a space that contributes to their well-being and leisure.
The combination of environment and innovation led to the selection of the materials used for the equipment, which resulted from the recycling and reuse of waste. The entire construction of the park was based on this concept, from the paving to the green areas, among many other details. Access for people with disabilities was also ensured.
Valorsul invested around 1.9 million euros in this project, covering an area of 48,000 m2. The main facilities include a children's playground, a popular games area, a playing field, an outdoor gym, an informal games area, gardens (of smells, medicines and flavours), a maintenance circuit, toilets and a support building for the green areas.
Swimming pools in Santa Iria de Azóia
Inaugurated on 1 September 2007, the swimming pools in Santa Iria de Azóia, a project financed by Valorsul, stand out for their modern facilities and the quality of the equipment used.
The complex consists of a 25x12.5 metre pool and another 15x6 metre pool for learning. It has a 300-seat grandstand for the public and a space for users to warm up and do weight training.
The versatility of this facility means that, as well as learning, training and competitive swimming, it can also be used for recreational purposes, physiotherapy and maintenance, for all age groups.
The pools, an investment of 1.8 million euros by Valorsul, are the result of a commitment made to the Loures City Council and are intended to provide better living conditions for the population.
This equipment allows the regular practice of activities that contribute to promoting health, improving quality of life and social wellbeing and boosts the dynamisation of sports in the municipality of Loures.
Luminous Fountain in Bobadela
In January 2009, Valorsul completed the process of upgrading the roundabout at Largo Infante D. Henrique, in Bobadela, with the construction of a Luminous Fountain.
This project, totalling €122,350.00, is the result of Valorsul's commitment to Loures City Council to provide a better quality of life for the local population.
The multi-coloured projectors, together with the fountain's 16 water jets and a waterfall, make it possible to create countless games of water, light and colour, promoting a more inviting environment for passers-by.
Green spaces in Bobadela
This project, carried out by Loures Town Council, costing 40,346 euros, made it possible to rehabilitate an area of around 2,315 m2 located in the parish of Bobadela, whose area of intervention is delimited by Rua do Canal do Tejo and Rua Jorge Alexandre Batalha Ferreira, essentially consisting of treating this space as a green urban area.
